Built between 1977 and 1981, the much-loved centre’s facilities and services were aging, and unable to keep pace with the needs of a growing local population.
Liquid Blu was engaged to produce a masterplan for the site to guide future development and management of the centre and ensure it remains viable.
Drawing on our experience in delivering successful aquatic centres in South East Queensland, we recommended multiple elements to serve a broad range of uses. This includes water facilities for school groups and youth-focused community spaces.
Our plan included provisions for indoor learn-to-swim classes and therapy programs along with health and well-being spaces.
The concept was for a flexible, functional and vibrant facility that would serve residents and visitors for years to come. Following on from this, Liquid Blu teamed up with COX Architecture to complete the remainder of the design and then construction support services.
